Clare Richardson

Biography

Clare Richardson is a British-American-German journalist with more than 15 years of experience in international news. As a presenter and correspondent for the BBC and Deutsche Welle, she covered some of the most consequential global stories of our time.

An experienced event moderator, Clare regularly hosts high-profile international conferences focused on politics, business, and technology.

In the studio and in the field, she has covered breaking news of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, conflicts across the Middle East, the deaths of Queen Elizabeth II and Pope Francis, and pivotal moments in U.S. foreign policy such as the capture of Venezuela’s Nicolás Maduro. As a foreign correspondent with hostile environment training, she has reported from every continent except Antarctica.

Clare is also an award-winning documentary director, with films produced in Australia, Brazil, and Japan, and a media trainer who has developed journalism and communications courses for institutions including the University of Melbourne and Deutsche Welle.

Born and raised in Palo Alto, California, she began her career in New York as World Editor of The Huffington Post and later Reuters.

She holds a PhD in Global Intellectual History from the Freie Universität Berlin.
