Opinionated, charismatic and thought-provoking, Afua Hagan is one of Britain’s leading voices on diversity, inclusion and social mobility.
An award-winning journalist, broadcaster and commentator, Afua is a familiar face across British and international media. She regularly appears on ITV’s This Morning and Good Morning Britain, Channel 5’s Vanessa, the BBC, Sky News, NBC, CNN, CTV News, News Central Africa and LBC. She has also presented for TalkTV, appearing on The Talk and hosting The Royal Tea, and is widely recognised as an authoritative commentator on the British Royal Family.
Afua is currently Royal Commentator for CTV News, Senior International Correspondent for News Central Africa, Managing Editor of Black Business Magazine, and host of The Royal Dress Code podcast.
Her expertise extends beyond journalism into public speaking, where she is a sought-after keynote speaker, moderator and host. Drawing on her own journey from Glasgow to the forefront of British media, Afua delivers powerful keynote speeches on social mobility, diversity and inclusion, representation, equity, women’s leadership and overcoming barriers to success. She speaks passionately about creating opportunities for underrepresented communities and ensuring that talent—not background—determines success.
In 2024, Afua delivered a highly acclaimed TEDx Talk, “Too Dark for Daytime TV,” exploring race, representation and belonging in the media industry. Her keynote speeches challenge audiences to rethink assumptions around class, race, access and opportunity, while providing practical insights into building more inclusive organisations and workplaces.
Afua has delivered keynote speeches, moderated panels and hosted events for organisations including Retail Week, the NHS, HSBC, Compare the Market, Inmarsat and Cambridgeshire Police, earning a reputation for combining insight, authenticity and humour with compelling storytelling.
A passionate and experienced journalist, Afua has hosted Sustainable Energy for CNBC, written for The Voice Newspaper, served as Editor-in-Chief of Glam Africa Magazine, and held senior editorial roles across a range of publications. Her broadcasting career has included positions at Arise News, ABN TV, The Beat 103.6FM and numerous national and international outlets.
Born and raised in Glasgow, Afua moved to London at 17 to study journalism at City University. Her career has spanned television production, music publishing, journalism, broadcasting and public speaking, giving her a unique perspective on the intersections of culture, media, business and social change.
Recognised for her contributions to broadcasting, Afua has received honours from the Black Women in Business Awards and the Women4Africa Awards.
Today, Afua continues to shape conversations around the Royal Family, race, representation, social mobility and equality, while inspiring audiences to challenge barriers, broaden opportunities and create meaningful change.
Afua lives and works in London. Outside of her professional life, she enjoys reading, travelling, watching basketball and volunteering at her daughter’s secondary school.

A TV News Anchor, Presenter, Commentator and Journalist, Afua is in high demand, regularly appearing on ITV’s This Morning, Good Morning Britain, Jeremy Vine on Channel 5, the BBC, Sky and CNN. She is a Presenter for TalkTV, appearing on The Talk and hosting The Royal Tea, part of her work as a distinguished Commentator on the British Royal Family, featuring on UK and international outlets.
Afua also appears on STV, Yanga! TV, LBC, Times Radio and talkRADIO and has been honoured for her work in Broadcasting by the Black Women in Business Awards. Afua is an excellent Diversity and Inclusion Keynote Speaker and Moderator. In 2024 she delivered a hugely successful TEDx Talk on Diversity and Inclusion, titled “Too Dark for Daytime TV”.
A passionate and experienced journalist, Afua is Managing Editor of Black Business Magazine, a title that aims to deliver high-quality, educational and inspirational content. They are at the forefront of the Black business revolution, capturing the stories of trailblazers and providing valuable insights into the challenges and triumphs of building successful enterprises. She has also hosted the TV show “Sustainable Energy” for CNBC, wrote a column for The Voice Newspaper and was Editor-in-Chief for Glam Africa Magazine.
Afua moved to London from Glasgow aged 17 to study journalism at City University. After specialising in broadcast and music, Afua found herself working at T4 and PopWorld before moving on to the dizzy heights of 60 Minute Makeover on ITV. She grew bored of decorating strangers’ homes in an hour or under and made the leap to music publishing where she worked for Blue Mountain Music under the watchful and legendary eye of Chris Blackwell.
Following her passion as a writer, Afua landed a job at Blackhair as Editorial Assistant, rising to be Editor after only a year. She became the Features Editor for Pride magazine and a Producer and Anchor for Arise News. After switching to ABN TV, she produced and presented the popular show Young & Rising and launched Entertainment Weekly. Afua is a great supporter of the UK and international music scene, especially in the world of Afrobeats and was the host of The A-List on The Beat 103.6FM.
Afua is a brilliant keynote speaker covering issues such as Diversity, Black Lives Matter and Equality for Women and continues to work as an Event Host and Moderator. Clients have included Retail Week, the NHS, HSBC, Cambridgeshire Police, Compare the Market and Inmarsat.
Afua lives and works in London. In her spare time she likes to make up dance routines with her daughter, have manicures and read crime novels.
