In a remarkable career Rory Stewart has served as a politician, soldier, academic and diplomat and continues to work as an author, broadcaster and podcaster.

In the UK Government he served as a minister in four departments and became a Cabinet Minister as Secretary of State for International Development.

He spent nearly a decade as a Tory MP and took his seat in Parliament for Penrith and The Border from 2010 to 2019 and was a contender for the Conservative leadership.

While studying at Oxford Rory was a private tutor to Prince William and Prince Harry.

Rory served as an Army officer and went on to join the Diplomatic Service with posts in Indonesia and as the British Representative in Montenegro.

He left the diplomatic service to go on a two-year walk across Afghanistan, Iran, Pakistan, India and Nepal and later wrote a best-selling book The Places in Between about his experience.

As an accomplished author, a string of other books followed including Politics on the Edge, a personal account of Stewart’s years in politics, describing life as an MP and as a junior and then a senior minister.

Rory’s BAFTA-award winning television career took off in 2010.

He wrote and presented the BBC’s Afghanistan: The Great Game – A Personal View by Rory Stewart telling of the foreign intervention by Britain, Russia and the United States in Afghanistan from the 19th century to the present day.

Alongside Tony Blair’s former spin doctor, Alastair Campbell, Roy now presents one of the UK’s most listened to podcasts The Rest Is Politics.
