Ghida Fakhry

Biography

Ghida Fakhry is an internationally renowned broadcast journalist with over 25 years experience.

She has worked for some of the major global television networks including Aljazeera English. Ghida was Lead Anchor at the network’s Americas broadcast center, in Washington DC, when AJE was launched in 2006. She presented the live nightly newscasts and hosted the award-winning documentary program Witness. Over the last two decades, she has reported from conflict zones, including Iraq and Afghanistan. She conducted in-depth interviews with numerous political leaders and top US policy makers.

Currently, she hosts TRT World’s two flagship programs from Washington DC: Bigger than Five, a monthly global affairs program, and Inside America with Ghida Fakhry, a weekly program focusing on US politics and foreign policy.

Ghida has covered many of the milestone events of the last twenty years —from the 9/11 attacks to the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. She also regularly covers the annual high-level debates of the General Assembly of the United Nations. Throughout her career, she has reported extensively from the UN and conducted in-depth interviews with numerous world leaders and senior UN and US officials. .

Over the last two decades, Ghida has distinguished herself as a highly accomplished and skillful moderator. She has moderated a series of high-level panels at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Cape Town and the Dead Sea. She has also chaired discussions for the Nobel Peace Center, the UN and the World Bank among others.

She helped relaunch the Qatar Foundation’s much-anticipated Doha Debates and was Moderator for its opening season, steering a series of informative, dynamic and robust discussions on a wide range of topics of global interest ranging from geopolitics, peace and security, human rights, to gender equality, business and climate change.

With her engaging on-stage presence and deep knowledge of global issues, she facilitates high-level discussions with key policy-makers, business leaders, academics, Nobel laureates and activists on a wide range of topics, using the breadth and scope of her experience as an international broadcaster.
