Tanni Grey-Thompson
One of Britain’s greatest Paralympic athletes, Baroness Grey-Thompson’s career and achievements have reached heights since she retired from sport, entering the House of Lords and becoming an influential voice in a range of important areas.
During her remarkable career in wheelchair racing she won gold after gold, many through glittering performances at the Paralympics and many more in the World Championships.
Those 17 gold medals propelled Tanni into the sporting spotlight and wrote her name into the record books dozens of times.

She was made a life peer to become Baroness Grey-Thompson in 2010 and sits in the House of Lords as a crossbench peer using her political influence to help drive change.
Tanni also has influence in her advisory and consultant roles on the National Disability Council, English Lottery Awards Panel and as Chair of Sport Wales.
And the honours have always been rolling in. Already a holder of the OBE and MBE Tanni was later made a Dame Commander of the Order of the British Empire.
Her unique blend of talents has seen her take on many appointments in sport and beyond, including Chancellor of Northumbria University and Pro-Chancellor of Staffordshire University.
Tanni is also Chair of UK Active, Chair of the Commission on the Future of Women’s Sport and Chair of Trustees for the Duke of Edinburgh Award.
