Reviews

“Carroll, making a strong debut in Cambridge theatre, was compelling in the second half where the character of Linda really comes into her own; Carroll’s physicality of the vivacious young woman giving way to the exhausted, isolated housewife dragging shopping bags behind her was heart-wrenching.”

Varsity Review

‘I was particularly impressed by the performances from […] Eva Carroll. Whilst other actors perhaps struggled to consistently convey a sense of variety in Russell’s dialogue, Carroll took on her role with remarkably good judgment, allowing herself to relish in the quieter moments of the script.’

Tab Review

‘I have had the pleasure of attending several engagements with Eva, where she has represented Plan International UK as a member of our Youth Advisory Panel. Eva has spoken to large audiences on our behalf and always presents in a way that is insightful and impactful – getting to the heart of the issue, while including her own thoughts and experiences that really resonate with audiences. At the launch of our “What Works for Public Sexual Harassment” report Eva presented a powerful and heartfelt account of her experiences of public sexual harassment. She has also spoken about this topic on This Morning and BBC Radio Cambridge, as well as working with our corporate partners, including The Body Shop, to bring our joint campaigns to life on Instagram.’

Rose Caldwell, CEO of children's charity Plan International UK

Eva was wonderful at Tank. Her material was well written, well delivered and she was great to work with. She’s someone we would recommend on any bill, our audience loved her!

Eva Carroll…put on a very good performance telling some very funny stories about her experiences as a student with the upper crust at Cambridge University

Kevin O’Brien

Closing the first section we had Eva Carroll – another young and unique voice in comedy, being a Scouse, socialist Cambridge graduate, she has such an insight into two very different worlds that have only been growing further and further apart in recent years, which makes for a goldmine of great comic potential that she does not waste. Eva’s life experiences contrast so delightfully with themselves that even listening to her story without jokes is fascinating. But we’re spoiled rotten as she intertwines some absolutely incredible jokes expertly in her narrative, with punchlines often coming out of nowhere to catch you off guard, only for another one to hit you from another angle before you’ve even recovered. Eva’s set is so tightly constructed, her insights are so gripping, and her comedic timing and delivery is on point, I wouldn’t trust any audience that didn’t find themselves on the verge crying laughing during her performance, as we certainly all were.
